So. I survived my first days of CrossFit! Woohoo! Big deal, I know. I’m pretty impressed with myself. Was I good at everything? No. Did I kick ass in the WODs? HELL no. Did I look like a flopping fish out of water doing burpees? Yes. Absolutely yes. Did I love it? Yes. Minus the flopping fish part, of course. The people there are SO nice and the intro sessions are awesome. They take you through all of the moves and help you get the movements and correct form down before just throwing you into the real deal classes. How nice of them.
I’m kind of hating myself right now though because I just realized that in today’s newbie WOD, which was an 8 minute EMOM of 3 wall balls, 5 pushups, 10 situps, and 5 burpees, I was actually doing 10 burpees at the end. WTF is wrong with my brain? Who would put themselves through that kind of torture? Most people were probably rejoicing in their mind that it was only 5. But obviously my brain was hating me this morning. FAIL. No wonder people were lapping me. I think I need to hire a professional burpee counter. No one should have to throw themselves repeatedly into that kind of movement AND keep track of how many times they do it. Maybe I could invent a burpee counter that you wear on yourself like a pedometer. I think I’m onto something here.
Sorry for boring you with my CrossFit newbie-ism. I feel like I’m already becoming one of those people who do CrossFit and ALL they talk about it CrossFit. I’m okay with it though. I want to be part of the cool kids club. I’ll probably have to get better at burpees first though. And counting.
Ok so onto carrot cake. I bought a crap ton of carrots this week and needed to use them up for something. Carrot cake was the obvious choice. DUH. This is yet another single lady (or man) dessert. Because I’m single. And too lazy to make dessert for everyone. Plus when I shared my cookies the other day, someone at my work asked me if they were “made from 2x4s and carrot sticks.” So that was nice. Single servings for life.
NOTE: Make sure you put your coconut milk in the fridge the night before you plan on making this, or you won’t have any cream for the frosting! K. Thanks.
