Wow. Where do I even begin with this post?
As many of you may know, a few weeks ago, my friend Sarah (fellow dietitian and founder of Columbus Nutrition Company) and I hosted a community gathering dinner to benefit a local charity here in Columbus, Mid Ohio Foodbank. Our theme for the event was #gathertogiveback, and I think the evening accomplished just that!
This was the first event either of us had ever planned/hosted, and let me just start off by saying, we were so floored by the incredible amount of kindness and generosity we were met with by all of the amazing individuals/companies who worked with us to make it happen. Our vision for this event was to bring like-minded people in our community together for a cause with a night of great food, fun, and company, and we could not have been more happy with the end result. I won’t lie, the thought of the two of us cooking for 40+ people was a LITTLE intimidating (ha!), but we managed to pull it off and I could not be more proud of how everything came together!
The event was held at Folsom & Pine Farm here in Columbus, where we gathered with guests in their beautiful greenhouse space. We loved the idea of doing a greenhouse dinner from the start and when we found this spot, we knew it was just perfect! It truly set the tone for what the evening was all about: bringing our community together for some holiday fun (and of course a great cause!) with fresh, local food!
Speaking of food, we were incredibly lucky to work with Door to Door Organics, a local, organic grocery delivery service, to provide the ingredients for our plant-based meal (plus some help from Folsom & Pine!). Door to Door is an amazing company that takes the work out of grocery shopping for you, and delivers local, organic ingredients right to your front door! You should have seen the look on my face when SEVEN huge boxes of fresh produce were brought to my house. Ha! Talk about a food blogger’s dream! The people we worked with at Door to Door were SO incredible and were 100% supportive of our idea from the start, and we cannot thank them enough for their contribution to the event. We truly could not have done it without them! If you aren’t familiar with them already, do yourself a favor and check them out!
We also had appetizers for the evening donated courtesy of Whole Foods Market Easton, and fresh juice from Columbus’ own Native Cold Pressed, which were both a HUGE hit!
Here’s a look at our menu for the night:
I’m drooling all over again just thinking about it!
Another one of our biggest thanks goes out to the amazing duo of the Columbus event planning/styling company, Events Held Dear. Leda and Sam are not only incredible at what they do, but they have become two of our favorite people and friends! We told them our vision at the beginning of the entire process and they absolutely NAILED the execution. I mean, you guys, look at this place! I cannot recommend them enough to anyone looking for planning/styling services for any kind of event. They have an amazing eye for design and were literally our lifesavers throughout the entire process. They made sure we had everything we needed and were everywhere the day of the event making sure it all ran smoothly. I cannot express my gratitude for finding these girls enough. The greenhouse was something straight out of a fairytale!
Live music was brought to us by the ever-talented duo of the Wild Path, with Derek DuPont singing/playing us smooth jams all evening. The whole mood for the night was set so perfectly thanks to these two!
And last but not least, a HUGE thank you goes out to the amazing Jenna Souers, who helped us beautifully capture the magic of the evening with her photos, which I am sharing with you here. Thank you Jenna for helping us remember this night forever!
With all of that being said, we also owe a big thank you to all of our guests who joined us that evening to support such a great cause. We cannot express our gratitude enough for all of you and your generosity, and for truly making the evening so special to us. This is a night we will never forget, and we hope to gather with you all again soon in 2016!
